PROMOTERS
The II level University Master's Degree in Marine Geomatics for Hydrography IX Edition, for the academic year 2022/2023 will be carried out at the Department of Naval, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering - DITEN of the University of Genoa.
The Master will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Earth, Environmental and Life Sciences - DISTAV, with the Internationalization, Research and Third Mission Area: Business and Territory Relations Service and with the Istituto Idrografico della Marina. Partners: Codevintec Italiana and Navionics.

PARTECIPANTS PROFILE
Degree in Engineering and all degrees related to the SMFN School obtained according to the previous system; B2 level of English (as per suitable qualification, certificate or self-certification). The Italian Navy also reserves the right to have a number of their officers and/or from foreign Armed Forces without the required admission qualifications attend lessons as listeners in order to be certified as FIG/IHO/ICA Category A Hydrographic Surveyor
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The purpose of this post-graduate course is to train highly specialized professionals to perform delicate tasks and to respond flexibly to a rapidly evolving demand, also exploiting new technologies.
The course is in compliance with the international standards set forth in IHO publication - S5A "Standards of Competence for Category A Hydrographic Surveyors – and allows participants to qualify as Category A Hydrographic Surveyor as per the IBSC (FIG / IHO / ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers following successful completion of a practical training experience.
ENROLMENT
Applications must be submitted online at servizionline.unige.it/studenti/post-laurea/master, by October 21 2022 at 12.00 CET.
The application for the admission to the course must be accompanied by the following documents (to be attached in pdf format trough the online procedure):
- front/back copy of the identity document;
- curriculum vitae;
- any documents of equivalence of the qualifications held
The list of admitted students will be published at www.perform.unige.it/master/master-geomatica-marina on 26 October 2022.
Candidates admitted to the the II level University Master in Marine Geomatics for Hydrography must complete their registration using the online procedure available at servizionline.unige.it/studenti/post-laurea/confermaPL (by clicking on "confirm registration post-graduate degree "and choosing the course whose enrollment must be confirmed) by November 2nd 2022 at 12:00 CET.
The following documents must be attached to the online confirmation:
- 1 passport photo in jpg format.
- receipt proving the payment of € 2,500.00 plus stamp duties and the university contribution for the academic year 2022/2023
Cost of the programme:
Military candidates: free.
University fees and stamp duties a required for the academic year 2022/2023 are covered by Hydrographic Institute
Civilian candidates - Master fee: euro 2,500.00 in addition to university fees
CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE
At the end of the Training path, students who, in the opinion of the Management Committee, have carried out the activities and have successfully passed the final test will be awarded the II level University Master's degree in "Marine Geomatics for Hydrography" as required by art. 19 of the Regulations for Postgraduate, Professional updating and Training Courses and courses for first and second level University Masters.
The Italian Hydrographic Institute will also certify the completion of the course certified by the IBSC and internationally recognized for the preparation of "Category A Hydrographic Surveyor" specialists.

COURSE ORGANISATION
The Master’s programme will take place from November 2022 to December 2023 (about 14 months) and is awarded 90 ECTS.
Total duration: 2250 hours including theory, exercises, tests, individual study, educational visits, conferences and internships.
Location: the headquarters of the Italian Hydrographic Institute (Passo Osservatorio 4, Genoa).
