The overall objective of the project is to promote the use of LNG fuel as a cheap and clean fuel for the shipping industry aiming both to reduce transport costs and meet the tight emission limits, playing an important role in order to shift a large portion of freight off the road.
In the last years LNG as bunker Fuel has become a subject of high interest for various stakeholders. International Maritime Organization IMO restrictions on emissions and price opportunities have established the necessary environment that creates a unique opportunity for increased LNG demand within a new sector.
The strategic objective of ONtheMoSway network project is to face these global challenges, by adding local EU competences and knowledge in line with EU policies concerning the maritime and logistic domains, taking into account stakeholders needs to deliver high quality educational contents at different levels and making full use of mature IT tools.
Specific objectives of the projects are:
• the understanding and the appreciation of the pros and cons of LNG’s use as a marine fuel
• developing a new culture in all the actors to understand their role to the safe operation of LNG fuelled ships
• to bridge the different perspective that the crew onboard and at the port have, creating a common understanding
• bridging the gap in the existing training procedures and the different perspectives on the use of LNG for bunkering.
The ONtheMoSway network is not a traditional training activity but on the contrary is a unique action composed by a series of tools that are mixed together in order to achieve the project results with an innovative approach.
The content of the project and other relevant info related to the project will be available through the portal: www.onthemosway.eu.

Activity 1 – LNG Professional trainings and vocational education activities
The overall aim of the activity is to provide structured professional and vocational training including several modules.
The preliminary definition of the training modules is based on current demands in the industry:
1.1 LNG fuelled vessels design training
1.2 Safety of LNG handling on plant, bunkering station and on board vessels
1.3 LNG cargo and ballast management training on LCHS simulator
1.4 Manoeuvring of LNG driven vessel, special conditions and operations
1.5 Propulsion and power generation training of LNG driven vessel.
The modules are supported by remote lessons realized using the web videoconference tool.
Activity 2 - Cross fertilization on site dedicated visits related to LNG best practice
The aim is to visits places and interview professional in order to gather concrete knowledge.
The Sub-activities will be:
2.1 Final identification of sites
2.2 On Site visits.
Activity 3 - Extension of Onthemosway.eu portal
The aim of this activity to develop existing tools to be adopted and adapted to the project.
The Sub-activities will be:
3.1 Extension of the portal onthemosway.eu
3.2 Professional social media activities.
Activity 4 - Communication and Capitalisation
This activity has 4 sub-activities:
4.1 Stakeholders platforms
4.2 Clustering with relevant projects and initiatives
4.3 Final Conference
4.4 Creation of a formal association of stakeholders for the promotion of MoS and training.
Activity 5 - Project Management
The aim of this activity is to manage and administer the ONtheMoSway network and ensure its operational and technical coordination.
Within the project are planned a cycle of seminars targeting professionals and students interested in enhancing their knowledge on specific topics:
LNG fuelled vessels design training
from 6th July 2015 to 10th July 2015

The ONTHEMOSWAY NETWORK is not a traditional training activity but on the contrary is a unique action composed by a series of tools that are mixed together in order to achieve the project results with an innovative approach.
One of them is a dedicated mobile app for Android “On the MoS Way Network”: it will display the structure of the courses and how the user can attend them, keeping also in contact with the course manager.
